France coach dismisses fears over injured midfielder

France coach Laurent Blanc has hinted injured duo Yann M'Vila and Blaise Matuidi could yet make the team for the Euro 2012 opener against England. The two teams will lock horns next Monday in Group D but there remain concerns over the fitness of M'Vila (ankle) and Matuidi (thigh). However, Blanc is encouraged by their progress and retains some optimism that they could be involved. "Their fitness is coming on leaps and bounds," said Blanc. "Every day, there is a better prognosis. For the moment they are not yet able to play in a game or join in team training. "But I think that we are ahead of schedule with their return to fitness. "We hope they are going to continue to improve at the same pace, that we could gain two or three days, it could be interesting (for team selection)."

Diarra scare

The euphoria that accompanied France's 4-0 win over Estonia on Tuesday was tempered by Alou Diarra tweaking his hamstring in that game. But fears that it was a serious injury were quickly allayed by Blanc, who added: "It was more a scare than anything bad."
