PSG midfielder believes former England skipper can help club

Jeremy Menez claims he will welcome David Beckham to Paris St Germain with 'open arms', even if his arrival puts his own position under threat. Reports suggest the ex-England skipper is edging closer to agreeing a deal with the Ligue 1 leaders. Speculation has suggested Beckham's next port of call will be the French capital, with his contract in the MLS with Los Angeles Galaxy having come to an end. A return to Europe is on the cards for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder, and PSG lead the chase for his signature. His imminent arrival has caused quite a stir at Parc des Princes, with a marquee signing highlighting the ambition of the club's wealthy Qatari owners. Menez believes bringing Beckham on board could only be beneficial to the club and claims he will relish the added competition for places the 36-year-old will bring.

Experience

The France international told L'Equipe: "It is good for us and for the club. "He would be another great player in our group. He will be there to help us and we will help him too. We will make him feel at ease and welcome him with open arms. "Will he be in competition with me? I don't see it that way. I am used to competition and I am not scared by anyone. "He is a great player and a great person. We have respect for everything that he has done and for what he is. "We are a young group and his experience could make the difference during the second part of the season."
