Rothen to stay at PSG

Jerome Rothen is totally committed to Paris Saint Germain following the appointment of Paul Le Guen as coach.

Rothen did not seem to have a future at PSG under Guy Lacombe and was linked with a January move away from Parc des Princes.

Lille, Monaco and PSV Eindhoven have all been monitoring Rothen's situation and the winger admits he was very close to leaving.

However, he is now determined to make a fresh start after being told he is part of Le Guen's plans.

"I will stay at Paris. The chairman (Alain Cayzac) has known the situation for a while and I was not responsible for anything," he said.

"But the man in charge of sporting decisions has left, so I want to stay, as has always been my aim.

"Mr Lacombe hurt me a lot. My last talk with him was late in November and it was a clash.

"If he had stayed as coach it would have been impossible for me to stay. But it would have hurt me to leave Paris."
