Marcelo Gallardo has spoken of his satisfaction after making his debut for Paris Saint Germain.
The Argentinian midfielder helped the capital club to a 3-0 win over Nimes in the Coupe de France on Sunday, less than a week after his transfer from River Plate.
Whilst Gallardo accepts he was not in peak condition, the former Monaco man was encouraged by the early signs of his career at PSG.
"I felt good during the match. Don't forget that my last match took place a month ago, so I am happy with my performance," Gallardo told sport24.
"I wanted to be in the rhythm of the match and to come back to the pitch.
"That is true that I will have to work physically during all the week to be back at the top quickly.
"The essential thing was to win. My partnership with strikers Pauleta and (Bonaventure) Kalou hasn't been bad.
"We can say that I did a great match, but I will be better soon."
Gallardo also believes that PSG should be targeting a top five finish despite currently sitting just two points above the Ligue 1 relegation zone.
"We can target the top five of the league, thanks to the talent of the players," Gallardo added.
"The help of the fans can make me better, their welcoming has been great.
"The next step is to make my family come to France and to work physically."
