Marcelo Gallardo is relishing the prospect of helping Paris Saint Germain climb out of trouble.
PSG are in advanced negotiations with River Plate and a deal for the midfielder could be finalised in the coming days.
The capital club are in the midst of a torrid period, but Gallardo is looking forward to the chance to revive their fortunes.
"Just a few details are missing, but we are almost agreed," Gallardo told France Football. "I could join on a two-and-a-half-year basis.
"It is important what Paris can offer on a sporting level, with Ligue 1 and Uefa Cup.
"The quality of life is also important. I love France, notably Paris, and Parc des Princes.
"I know the league very well and I will not take time to adapt."
Gallardo is aware of the task at hand, as he added: "PSG are in a difficult period. I have always loved a challenge, I am not scared of their situation."
The Argentine claims he has turned down other proposals in order to aid PSG.
"I had concrete contacts with Mexican, Turkish and Russian clubs, all with very good financial propositions," he added. "But I don't look for a last big contract.
"My motivation is simple: Paris is a personal challenge."
