PSG have admitted that summer signings Carlos Bueno and Cristian Rodriguez played for Penarol after the date originally stated, but insist they were free to sign them.

South American side Penarol say that the duo were still under contract when they joined the French side in the summer and are demanding adequate compensation.

Both Bueno and Rodriguez (pictured) acquired an agreement from Fifa that they could move as free agents as they had not played for Penarol after December 31 2004.

However, the club argue that they played games after that date because of postponements to their fixture list, and Fifa responded by suspending the duo.

PSG admit that the pair played for Penarol in 2005 but say it is only a minor detail and claim that they should be their players - with the French outfit confident Fifa will rule in their favour.

"The players indeed played in the Penarol colours after December 31 of 2004, but it was for matches forecasted before that date and were postponed," said PSG officials Jean-Michel Moutier.

"Penarol are arguing with that."
