Portugal international Pauleta has confirmed he intends to sign a new contract with Paris Saint Germain.

Pauleta has just 12 months remaining on his present deal but has been offered an extension to stay at Parc des Princes until 2007.

He has also been handed the captain's armband following the exit of Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan and the striker is ready to commit his future to PSG.

"I am not troubled by the armband, I am prepared for that," Pauleta told But!

"Being captain is not complex, particularly with such a group.

"I will sign for an additional year at PSG. It is very good news. That way I will concentrate on the coming season very well."

Pauleta's attacking cohort Danijel Ljuboja, though, is increasingly likely to leave the capital as he is not in the plans of coach Laurent Fournier.

Fiorentina and Mallorca are tracking the forward but there have been no firm offers for the Serbia & Montenegro international.

Meanwhile, PSG attacker Bartholomew Ogbeche is continuing to train with Celta Vigo after scoring in a pre-season friendly for the Spanish side last week.
