Paris Saint Germain ace Bernard Mendy has revealed his out of sorts form this term is due to a pre-season injury.

The 23-year-old was a revelation last term, but has so far yet to display his best constantly for club and country.

Mendy played in France's disappointing goalless draw against Israel at the weekend and aggravated the knock.

"I don't know if I will play against Istres this weekend. I've had a fibula fissure to the left leg since the start of pre-season," explained Mendy to L'Equipe.

"Actually, the pain comes back each time I get a blow, and I got a new knock against Israel.

"I'm having a scan on Friday. I don't know if I'll need some rest, we will see. Anyway that injury can't explain everything.

"However, I have a winning mentality. It is a bad time, but I will respond and silence the critics."

Despite Mendy's doubts regarding his availability to face Istres, coach Vahid Halilhodzic believes he can play.

"There is nothing serious about his injury. I can assure you he will be with us to play Istres," said Halilhodzic.
