Nantes have revealed that Paris Saint Germain-bound defender Mario Yepes had attracted interest from The Premiership.

Yepes is expected to seal a ‚é¼9 million switch to the capital side in the coming days but had previously been courted by a team from England, reportedly Liverpool.

But Nantes chairman Jean-Luc Gripond admits the interest in the Colombian stopper was not followed up, with Real Madrid also supposedly admirers of Yepes.

"About Mario, even if we have serious contact with Paris, I thought he would go to a higher level," Gripond told France Football.

"Unfortunately, the calls we got this winter, notably from Real and an English club, didn't reach an agreement."

If Yepes does finally seal his move to Parc des Princes, Nantes are tipped to splash some of the transfer fee on Paraguay international Julio Cesar Caceres.

Meanwhile, Nantes striker Marama Vahirua could be another player to leave the club during the summer after attracting interest from fellow Ligue 1 sides.

Nice, Sochaux and Strasbourg are all weighing up the possibility of a bid for Vahirua, who scored seven goals last season.
