Atletico Madrid have captured Fabiano Eller dos Santos from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
The Brazilian central defender has been playing on loan for Porto Alegre's Internacional, but has leapt at the chance to move to the Spanish league.
The 29-year-old will fly to Madrid after negotiations ended swiftly as coach Javier Aguirre insisted on pushing the move through to bolster the team's push for a UEFA Champions League place.
Bringing in a central defender was seen as a priority for Los Colchoneros during the winter transfer window and Eller was quickly identified as fitting the bill.
Eller helped Internacional win the Fifa Club World Cup in December, when the Brazilian outfit caused an upset by beating European champions Barcelona in the final.
The former Vasco de Gama player will add strength and experience to the Atleti rearguard, and could be joined in La Liga by Auxerre midfielder Kanga Akale who has also been linked with a move to Vicente Calderon.
The Ivory Coast international has been identified as a potential replacement for the injury stricken Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Petrov and reports suggest he could become an Atleti player before the end of the transfer window in a é¼2.5million (£1.65million) deal.
