Auxerre came from behind to defeat Partizan Belgrade 4-1 in the Uefa Cup to set-up a fourth match 'play-off' with Livorno, who conceded a late equaliser to Maccabi Haifa in the group's other match.

Nebojsa Marinkovic's superb 30-yard free-kick gave the Serbs of Partizan a dream start to the match in just the fifth minute, but their hopes went up in smoke as Ligue 1 Auxerre fought back impressively.

Former Liverpool midfielder Bruno Cheyrou drilled home a shot from the edge of the area in the 18th minute, and the turnaround was complete just six minutes later through Daniel Niculae.

Kanga Akale tapped in Ireneusz Jelen's cross in the 36th minute and the writing was on the wall for the hosts. Luigi Pieroni confirmed the visitors' superiority with a fourth goal eight minutes from time.

Auxerre now need just a draw from their final match with Livorno to reach the next stage, but the Italians need all three points if they are to deprive the French of third place in the group, and join Rangers and Maccabi Haifa in the next stage.

Cristiano Lucarelli's 20th-minute goal appeared to have handed Livorno all three points at home, but three minutes into time added on at the end of the match, Roberto Colautti's close-range header earned the Israelis a draw which guarantees their participation in the Round of 32.
