Inter forward hit with three-match suspension

Inter Milan striker Luc Castaignos has been hit with a three-match suspension after spitting at an opponent in Friday's game against Bologna. No action was taken against the 19-year-old Dutchman at the time, as referee Antonio Damato missed the incident. However, the league has reviewed television evidence of what happened after replays showed Castaignos appearing to spit at Bologna's Andrea Raggi. It looked as though Castaignos missed Raggi, as there was some distance between the two players, but he has still been punished. He will miss the club's next three matches, against Napoli, Parma and Catania in Serie A, although it is not yet known whether Inter plan to appeal. The Nerazzurri lost 3-0 to Bologna and are currently sixth in the league standings, 13 points adrift of leaders Juventus.
