Atalanta defender Adriano wants to join Monaco, according to reports in France.

The Brazilian has attracted interest from new Monaco coach Ricardo and is keen on a move to the Stade Louis II.

Adriano could move to Monaco on a three-year deal, although the Principality currently already have four non-EU players.

However, the likely departure of Gonzalo Vargas should free up space in the Monaco squad for Adriano.

Meanwhile, Ricardo claims he still needs to sign at least another midfielder prior to the new Ligue 1 season.

"You know that I want to strengthen our midfield with a new player," he told the club's official website.
