Atletico Madrid have warded off late interest from Monaco to set up a deal for Portugal star Maniche.
The big-spending Spaniards have agreed a fee with Dynamo Moscow for the midfielder and expect to unveil Maniche on Wednesday on a three-year deal.
The player who spent a spell on loan at Chelsea last season will undergo a medical at Vicente Calderon before completing a switch which is reportedly worth around é¼9 million (£6.1 million).
Maniche's impending arrival will take the total summer outlay to nearly é¼50 million (£34 million) at the Liga side, with Atletico having already spent big on Argentine wonderkid Sergio Aguero.
French outfit Monaco had been hoping to take advantage of a late hitch in negotiations to bring the UEFA Champions League winner to Ligue 1, but Maniche will now be reunited with former Porto and Dynamo team-mate Costinha in Spain.
