Monaco target Livorno trio

Monaco have contacted Italian side Livorno over three of their players.

Monaco have contacted Italian side Livorno over the availability of goalkeeper Marco Amelia, midfielder Stefano Morrone and striker Cristiano Lucarelli.

Coach Franceso Guidolin has already raided Serie A to sign top striker Christian Vieri, and he is now looking to go back to Italy for more new recruits.

Guidolin had targeted the Livorno trio as men who could offer them something extra at Stade Louis II.

Livorno president Aldo Spinelli was flattered that three of his players had attracted interest from abroad, but has turned down Monaco's advances.

"Monaco asked me about Amelia, Morrone and Lucarelli," said Spinelli.

"These are three fundamental players, that should I not have in my mind as being good for Livorno, I would surely sell."

Spinelli does not want to let all three men leave as the Tuscany fans would not be pleased with three of their main stars departing.

Monaco are due to try again to sign at least one of the three, and it could be Morrone (pictured) heading to the Principality as Guidolin coached him at Palermo.
