Monaco have acknowledged an interest in Cagliari ace Mauro Esposito.
The Italy international has been strongly linked with a move to the Ligue 1 side since the end of last season.
Esposito enjoyed a fine past campaign for Cagliari, scoring 16 goals in Serie A from his attacking midfield role.
Juventus and Barcelona have been monitoring the progress of the 26-year-old for the past 12 months but are yet to test the water with a bid.
Cagliari will be loath to lose Esposito but are set to have their resolve tested by Monaco, who have now confirmed they want to recruit the schemer.
A ‚é¼12 million offer is expected to be Monaco's opening gambit as they continue their plans to overhaul the squad at Stade Louis II.
