Rothen eyed by Italian duo

ITALIAN giants Juventus and Internazionale are ready to do battle for the signature of Monaco playmaker Jerome Rothen.

The 25-year-old Frenchman had a sparkling season at Stade Louis II and was a driving force in their title challenge that saw them end in second place, just a point behind champions Lyon.

Didier Deschamps is desperate to keep most of his squad together for their Champions League campaign next term, but knows that money is tight at the club.

The Principality side may now reluctantly accept offers for Rothen, with the Italian sides leading the way.

Juve and Inter are interested, with the Milan side already looking at other options should their move for Khalilou Fadiga not go through for medical reasons.

Monaco have already begun to talk to Juve about a possible move to Stadio Delle Alpi, but the Italians also want options to sign talented defenders Patrice Evra and Sebastien Squillaci.

Having already refused an offer from le Championnat rivals Marseille of around ‚é¼8.5 million for Rothen, Juve would have to stump up more cash to have any chance of landing their man.
