The agent of Lorient midfielder Maxime Barthelme claims Real Betis have expressed an interest in his client.
No offer has been tabled as yet, but Lorient are readying themselves for an approach during the winter transfer window.
It may be that they are able to keep Barthelme out of Betis' clutches, with the player said to be happy in France.
The 24-year-old's representative admits it is possible that a move will be snubbed, with regular games at a competitive side more important than chasing a switch to a more high-profile league.
"Betis are interested in Max, but there has been nothing concrete," said Frank Welfringer.
"We know about the interest from Betis and Barthelme is also aware of it.
"That said, he is flattered but he is certainly happy with things in Lorient, where he has been continuously improving."
