Midfielder to remain with Brittany-based side until 2014

Yann Jouffre has penned a contract extension at Lorient, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2014.

The new deal will take the midfielder through to six years of service, with the 27-year-old having joined the club from Guingamp in January 2008.

He has made 82 Ligue 1 appearances for Lorient, scoring six goals, and says he is delighted to have prolonged his association with the Brittany-based side.

"I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with the club," Jouffre told the club's official website.

"It's a relief. I would have been disappointed to leave Lorient."

While Lorient have welcomed the news of Jouffre's new deal, they have been rocked by another injury setback to Gregory Bourillon.

The defender has been informed that he will require surgery on a groin problem and he is expected to be sidelined for up to two months.

Bourillon only returned from a similar injury in December.
