Jeremie Aliadiere has suffered a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury and is set to be sidelined for a further six weeks.
The striker, who joined Lorient last summer, has been nursing a knock since October.
It was hoped that he would be back in action by now, but he remains some way off a first-team return.
Lorient have confirmed that he requires further treatment, with the muscle strain he suffered having failed to heal properly.
The Ligue 1 outfit announced on their official website that they expected Aliadiere to be out of action until the end of February.
He will be sent to a specialist rehabilitation centre in Saint-Raphael, with it hoped that their expertise can rid him of his injury troubles.
