Coach Christophe Galtier will stay with St Etienne next season, the club have confirmed.
Having guided the club to fourth place and Europa League qualification, Galtier had been linked with the vacancy created by Remi Garde's departure from fierce rivals Lyon.
He had also held talks with club directors to assure himself of their ambition for the future, reportedly demanding that key players such as goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier and full-back Benoit Tremoulinas be retained.
Those talks appear to have been both successful and amicable, according to director Roland Romeyer.
"There were no worries," he told www.leprogres.fr: "We talked and Christophe will be with us next season."
Fellow club president Bernard Caiazzo added: "We expressed our wish to see him continue. There are not many clubs more attractive than ours."
Galtier arrived at Les Verts in December 2009, succeeding Alain Perrin in the hot seat. Under his stewardship, they won the 2013 Coupe de la Ligue with a 1-0 win over Rennes in the final.
