Brazilian striker close to completing Cruzeiro switch

Marseille have confirmed that Brazilian striker Brandao is on the verge of completing a move to Cruzeiro. The 30-year-old has experienced a difficult time of late and is currently under investigation for rape. He has made it clear that he no longer wishes to remain in French football, with an imminent exit sought. Cruzeiro are willing to offer him the opportunity to head home, and Marseille are prepared to sanction a loan deal. Club president Jean-Claude Dassier said: "We have been informed of Cruzeiro's interest in Brandao, who himself seems interested.

Complicated

"It could interest us as well and there is a chance that it will happen. "It is difficult to imagine Brandao returning to the [Marseille] team. "We can understand that things have been psychologically complicated for him." Dassier also revealed that Brandao would likely join Cruzeiro on a deal which will run until 31st December with a €4million right-to-buy clause included in the move, which would be actionable in May. The forward is currently back in Brazil, having been granted a rest period amid the police investigation, but he is due back in France this week and will discuss a potential loan switch upon his return.
