St Etienne midfielder Loic Perrin is aware it will be very difficult for his club to qualify for either the UEFA Champions League or Uefa Cup.
Les Verts are currently eighth in the Ligue 1 standings but Perrin, who has been reportedly subject to interest from Arsenal, is keen to play in the Intertoto Cup in the summer if all their other European ambitions fail.
"Intertoto is an interesting competition. We played in it two years ago and that was a good experience," he told Football365.
"It could permit us to discover new countries, new cultures. And if it went well, it could be a springboard for the Uefa Cup.
"Honestly, I think that it will be very difficult to qualify directly for the Uefa Cup. We are behind the top teams and we depend on their results.
"Winning against Lille could change our situation, let's defeat them and we will see. We will try to finish the season nicely, to have fun and to please the fans."
