St Etienne's fine season shows no sign of abating as the campaign reaches its climax, following Thursday night's 2-0 win at Nancy.
After a goalless first period St Etienne sprang into life after the interval and took the lead in the 56th minute when Brazilian Ilan etched his name on the scoresheet.
Nancy's bid to claim a leveller were repelled and the home side fell further behind when Ilan set up Bafetimbi Gomis to grab his side's second, just past the 70-minute mark.
St Etienne were hungry for the spoils having lost their last four competitive matches, but now look back on course to push for a European place.
The win moves St Etienne up to fifth, while Nancy remain in ninth.
