Wolfsburg's Danish defender is on the verge of a move to Italy

Italian giants Roma are on the verge of signing Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer. The German club have revealed that they expect the Denmark international to move to Italy in the next couple of days. Kjaer, 22, moved to Wolfsburg in 2010 after previous spells with Danish club FC Midtjylland and Italian side Palermo. He reportedly joined the Bundesliga side for £10million and has since become a first-team regular. Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath told the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper: "I assume there is regular contact between Simon Kjaer and Roma. "As a representative of VfL Wolfsburg I have to manage such a situation. "I have to prepare the club if the player leaves. And for that reason we have linked up the signature of (Brazilian defender) Chris." Mikkel Beck, Kjaer's agent, said: "VfL Wolfsburg has allowed us to negotiate terms with clubs. "We are now talking to Roma. But there is also another club keen on signing him."
