Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama admitted his man of the match performance against Argentina was a gift from the heavens. The 27-year-old produced a magnificent display despite suffering a 1-0 defeat, making a series of stunning stops to deny Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain for the Super Eagles. Messi's status as arguably the world's greatest player certainly put him in the spotlight, and he didn't disappoint, playing at the heart of every attack for his team. Enyeama was thankful for his contribution, admitting that he had also studied plenty of videos of Messi to see how he could be stopped. "I want to thank God, I don't know how I got to some of the shots but it was by the grace of God, he made a difference today," he said. "I saw his (Messi's) games and I think I got a good bit of information on him."

Phenomenon

Messi himself was full of praise for the Hapoel Tel-Aviv goalkeeper, hailing his performance, but also showing pride in his team's victory. "The goalkeeper was a phenomenon. The important thing is we created chances. We are playing well and the result was perfect for us. We are happy," said Messi. Team-mate Jonas Gutierrez echoed the 23-year-old's sentiments, stating that they worked hard to earn the three points and head into the game against South Korea on Thursday on a high. "It was a very good game, a very hard game. We didn't score the second goal which made it harder for us but I think the national team of Argentina did a good job," he said. "It was a little worrying that we couldn't score a second but Nigeria made it a little difficult for us. More importantly I feel that we played well. We have gained confidence from these three points, now we are focusing on the second game. "Nigeria have a very good team with very good players so it wasn't a surprise to see how strong they were."
