Mathieu Bodmer is likely to miss Lille's clash with Lyon to ensure he is fit to face Manchester United.
The midfielder is nursing a sprained ankle which forced him off during the second half of the 0-0 draw against Nantes earlier this month.
He sat out last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Toulouse, but returned to training on Monday after recovering from the knock.
But Lille coach Claude Puel is expected to leave Bodmer out of his plans for Friday's Ligue 1 encounter against champions Lyon.
Puel is determined to ensure his key midfielder is fit to line up against United in the first leg of their last 16 UEFA Champions League tie next Tuesday.
With Bodmer expected to miss out against Lyon, Puel is likely to include recent signing Ludovic Obraniak in his team.
