French outfit Lille have suffered a double injury blow with the news that strikers Johan Audel and Nicolas Fauvergue have both been sidelined.

22-year-old forward Fauvergue (pictured) was unable to join up with the French Under-21 side earlier this week after straining a calf muscle in a league game against Nice.

As a result Fauvergue is expected to be in the physio room for up to six weeks, ruling him out of the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against AEK Athens.

"He tore his calf muscle during the 1-0 victory over Nice in the Ligue 1," confirmed a statement on the club's website.

Fauvergue is also a major doubt for the return game in Greece on November 1, but Audel has been hit more severely and is expected to miss the remainder of the group stages of Europe's premier competition.

The starlet has undergone surgery to a problematic shoulder injury and has been ruled out for three months at least.

Moreover, Claude Puel may also have to contend with the likely absence of Yohan Cabaye as the midfielder is struggling with a knee problem.

Cabaye was similarly unable to join the French Under-21 set-up but Lille have not released any details of his likely recovery schedule as yet.
