Valenciennes striker Steve Savidan has capped a fine start to life in Ligue 1 by being named Player of the Month for August.
The top flight new boys have had an impressive introduction to top tier football and in particular, Savidan has stood out.
Savidan is delighted to have scooped the accolade but he is quick to pay tribute to his team-mates, for the manner in which they have created chances for him to dispatch.
Lille duo Peter Odemwingie and Abdul Kader Keita finished second and third respectively.
"For my start in Ligue 1, I win a trophy," said Savidan.
"I haven't realised yet what it represents but I am ahead of two very good forwards.
"I am pleased to be compared to Peter Odemwingie and Kader Keita.
"I am proud for my team-mates too, I won't be a boot-licker but as a forward if they are not good, I can't be good myself.
"This is nice for me and the team. It means people look at Valenciennes. It is a trophy that rewards a whole group's work."
