LILLE SET TO LOSE STARS

LILLE qualified for the Champions League in their first season back in the top flight, but despite money to spend, look like losing several of their top stars.

The club, who gained promotion from the Second Division last season, have a larger budget to strengthen their side but their remarkable performance this season has led to increased interest in their top players.

Benoit Cheyrou is one of the most wanted players at the club and says that the club could lose it's players if they are promised big money from larger clubs.

"Of course it will be an interesting season for us next season," said Cheyrou. "But we do not have the money as some other clubs so logically there will be some departures."

Two of the top wage earners at the club, Edwin Murati and Mikkel Beck, are set to leave the club, with Albanian Murati interesting Sedan and Sochaux after being unhappy at not getting regular football.

Defender Pascal Cygan is highly rated in Europe and has attracted the interest of German sides Hertha Berlin and Schalke along with Greek duo Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

There where also doubts about the future of coach Vahid Halilhodzic but he has recently committed himself to the club, and is keen to improve his squad ahead of next season.
