Pouplin leaves on Bosman; Batz arrives as replacement
Freiburg have confirmed the Bosman exit of French goalkeeper Simon Pouplin and have announced the arrival of replacement Daniel Batz from Nurnberg.
Batz has signed a three-year-contract at badenova-Stadion and will likely serve as the back-up to Germany Under 21 international Oliver Baumann.
Meanwhile, Fabien Piveteau, the agent of Pouplin, claims the player is frustrated by the behaviour of Freiburg general manager Dirk Dufner.
Piveteau told
Kicker-Sportmagazin: "Simon is shocked and is bitterly frustrated to learn via the internet that he is not getting a new deal at Freiburg.
"I have tried to get in touch with Dirk Dufner for weeks. I have left him messages on the phone and I have tried to phone him regularly.
"Unfortunately he did not bother to call me back or get in touch with us about this. Simon, Dirk Dufner and I had a clear verbal agreement on contract negotiations.
"However, it was Dirk Dufner that shunned us in an uncompromising way."
Dufner said: "That's absurd. I have told Fabien Piveateau a couple of times it would be likely that Simon Pouplin would not get a new contract at our club."
