Nantes had taken the lead in the 20th minute through Nicolas Savinaud, but a two goal salvo from Ilan (28, 45) had given Sochaux the lead, to the dismay of the La Beaujoire-Louis-Fonteneau crowd.
The late equaliser could prove crucial, with Nantes in major danger of being dragged into the relegation quagmire this season.
Sochaux are in eighth, 13 points behind league leaders Lyon.
