Interest mounting in Montpellier striker

Bayern Munich and Napoli have admitted to holding an interest in Montpellier's highly-rated striker Olivier Giroud. The 25-year-old forward is considered to be hot property, with Arsenal also believed to be weighing up the merits of a summer approach. They will face stiff competition for his signature were they to make a move, with clubs across Europe set to join the transfer scramble. German giants Bayern would head the queue of admirers, with the Bundesliga outfit expected to part with Ivica Olic at the end of the season and bring in attacking reinforcements. "We are looking for a forward and we have several names on our list. Giroud is one of them," Bayern scout Bjorn Andersson told L'Equipe. Bayern representatives were in attendance on Sunday as Montpellier drew 2-2 with fellow Ligue 1 title-chasers Paris St Germain.

Exciting

Napoli also sent scouts to that fixture, with the Serie A side revealing that they are keen on Giroud and Rennes' in-demand midfielder Yann M'Vila. "Giroud? He is an exciting player that we are following," said sporting director Riccardo Bignon. "At the moment we have a lot of good forwards, but we are always looking towards the future. "Our scouts are following him (Giroud) closely and we have seen more than one of Montpellier's matches this season." On M'Vila, Bignon added: "He is a player we have been following for many years. "He is a player that is being watched by clubs from all over Europe. Everyone knows how good he is."
