Rennes starlet Yoann Gourcuff has expressed his delight at becoming the youngest ever player to win the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award.
The 19-year-old has won a host of admirers for his impressive displays in France, with Arsene Wenger expected to launch a summer bid to make Gourcuff the latest promising addition to his Arsenal squad.
The forward caught the eye of former Gunners man Gilles Grimandi before he alerted his former boss, but Gourcuff has also been linked with Monaco, Milan and Juventus as Rennes prepare for a transfer scramble in the summer.
For now Gourcuff is shining at Stade de la Route-de-Lorient, and he was named Player of the Month for March after beating team-mate John Utaka and Lyon's Sylvain Wiltord to the prize.
After taking 45 percent of the vote, Gourcuff spoke of his pride at becoming the youngest recipient of the prize.
"It is a great satisfaction and I am very proud to have won that trophy," said Gourcuff.
"I am flattered to be the youngest player rewarded."
