Monaco have been boosted by the news that star duo Ludovic Giuly and Jerome Rothen will not leave on the cheap after the club's debts were cleared.

According to reports in France, ASM have assured the league's committee their accounts are now in order after MFI, the team's investors trust, invested ‚é¼50 million in the side.

The clearing of their debt mountain ensures they are no longer forced into selling their prized assets, namely Rothen and Giuly - who have been attracting interest.

Barcelona have confirmed their interest in Giuly, who was inspirational for Monaco in Europe this term, and hope to conclude a swift deal.

"The negotiations are entering the final stage," said Barca's vice president Sandro Rosell. "We contacted Monaco directly about our interest.

"We want to settle things swiftly. Everyone at the club has been impressed by Ludovic Giuly, both by the man and the footballer, who has enormous qualities."

With two of their star players possibly heading for the exit door, the club have been searching for talent to fill the gaps.

Rennes wingers Olivier Monterrubio and Olivier Sorlin are believed to have caught the attention of the UEFA Champions League runners-up, and Didier Deschamps is keen to bring in the duo.
