FORMER Derby County player Francois Grenet has sealed a two-year contract with Rennes.

Grenet was handed a short-term deal at the club after impressing in a loan spell from Derby, and has now earned a longer-term contract.

The defender has been a first team regular for Rennes, and did enough to impress in the second half of the season.

Grenet never had the desired impact at Derby after arriving from Bordeaux, making just 19 appearances in a County shirt.

The 28-year-old defender is keen to get his career back on track, and Rennes are hopeful he will become a key man for them.
