Guingamp swoop for Le Roux

GUINGAMP are to sign Rennes midfielder Christophe Le Roux on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old was expected to move to the capital to join Paris Saint Germain in the summer but has returned to one of his former clubs after Luis Fernandez did not follow up his interest in him.

Le Roux's contract with Rennes has expired and he had always said he would leave the club, and is delighted to be staying in Brittany.

"It was my destiny to remain in Brittany," said Le Roux. "I had to make a choice, especially as the market for me didn't accelerate.

"I am released now and happy to go back to Guingamp, with the coach Bertrand Marchand who really wanted me."

Le Roux played with Guingamp for six years and will be renewing acquaintances at the Roudourou for next season, when they will be hoping to finish higher than last term when they narrowly avoided relegation.
