Marseille finished the year on a high with a 3-1 win over Nancy that lifted them up to fifth.
Nancy's Reynald Lemaitre had cancelled out Mathieu Valbuena's early opener shortly before the break but further goals from Stephane M'bia and Lucho Gonzalez sealed victory for the visitors.
Valbuena had given them the lead on 18 minutes, playing a neat one-two with Loic Remy before beating goalkeeper Guy Ndy Assembe with a low shot.
Lemaitre drew Nancy level on 37 minutes with a controversial effort as he appeared to be offside as he met Jean Calve's cross.
Marseille restored their lead four minutes later, when Cameroon midfielder M'Bia converted Morgan Amalfitano's cross.
Argentine playmaker Gonzalez netted a third in stoppage time to ensure the 2010 champions went into the three-week winter break six points off the pace.
