Djibril Cisse has apologised to Paris Saint Germain defender Mario Yepes after playing a part in the defender's broken ankle.
The two players were involved in a challenge on Sunday which saw the PSG star sustain the injury that will rule him out for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season.
The chairman of the Parisian club, Alain Cayzac, has already called for Cisse to be punished, but the on-loan Liverpool man has made his apology to the Colombian international.
Cisse had previously claimed that he was unwilling to call the PSG star, but now insists he has tried to make contact with Yepes following the nasty injury.
"It's the first time in my career I've hurt an opponent and I want to apologise again," Cisse told the French Football Federation website.
"I tried to call him (Yepes) this morning but I only got his answer-phone.
"Some people believed that I wanted to hurt him but it never was my intention."
