Jose Anigo has revealed that Marseille have made an offer for Ricardo Costa.
Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has revealed that the Ligue One club have made an offer for experienced Porto defender Ricardo Costa.
The 25-year-old could make the move in a loan deal with the option of a permanent move to the French side.
"It is true that this player interests us and that we have been following his progress for a long time," Anigo told Maisfutebol. "But we haven't reached an agreement yet."
Porto are believed to be keen on a transfer, while Marseille would prefer the option of a loan deal first.
Anigo's aim during the January transfer window is to bring an experienced defender to the club that will help develop the talent of youngsters Ronald Zubar and Renato Civelli.
As well as Costa, Copenhagen star Michael Gravgaard is a target for Anigo with the versatile player also able to play up front.
France international and Monaco player Gael Givet has also become the subject of the Marseille chief's interest.
A couple of midfielders have also reportedly caught Anigo's eye.
Nice midfielder Stephane Balmont, who would replace Sabri Lamouchi following his departure to Qatar a couple of months ago, and offensive midfielder Yassine Chikhaoui are drawing attention from the Marseille boss.
Anigo apparently watched Tunisian Chikhaoui play for his club Etoile du Sahel against Sfaxien last weekend and was impressed by what he saw.
Meanwhile, Marseille midfielder Mathieu Deruda has gone on loan to Ligue Two side Libourne for the second time this season.
Deruda left the club two months ago because he refused to play with the reserves but coach Didier Tholot has agreed to offer the player a second chance.
"Everytime I am needed I do my job and respect the tactics," Deruda told La Provence.
"I continue to learn and that is why I count a lot on my spell with Libourne.
"If I can be better thanks to that experience, I will come back to Marseille."
