Sochaux continue to exceed all expectations in Ligue 1 this season, as Sunday's 1-0 win over Marseille took them to fourth in the table.
Nigerian defender Rabiu Afolabi proved his side's match-winner in the 77th minute when he powered home a header.
Sochaux are now level on points with Lille and Lens, another side who continue to impress, following what was a comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Bordeaux on Saturday.
In Sunday's other clash, Lille were impressive on their travels to Nancy, having come from behind to claim a 3-1 victory.
Nancy took the lead after a goalless first half when Benjamin Gavanon opened the scoring seven minutes after the interval.
Their advantage would, though, prove short-lived as on the hour mark, Mathieu Bodmer struck to get back into the contest.
In the 68th minute, Mathieu Debuchy put his side in the lead, leaving Souleymane Youla to wrap up the spoils in the final minute.
