Ribery blow for L'OM

Marseille winger Franck Ribery could be out of action until the New Year with a groin injury.

Marseille winger Franck Ribery could be out of action until the New Year with a groin injury.

Ribery picked up the problem during Marseille's 1-0 defeat at Lille over the weekend, but linked up with the France squad.

Les Bleus face Greece in a friendly on Wednesday, but Ribery has now withdrawn from the match.

France national team coach Raymond Domenech revealed his belief that he does not expect the attacker to play again in 2006.

"There is very little chance of seeing him on the pitch before next year," said Domenech.

If the diagnosis is confirmed, then Ribery will not return for Marseille until the first Ligue 1 game after the winter break against Rennes on January 13.
