A second-string Marseille side achieved a momentous 0-0 draw at Paris Saint Germain on Sunday.

L'OM went through with their threat to play a 'B' team at the Parc Des Princes because of security fears, but the expected thrashing never materialised.

PSG were going into the game out of form, having not won a league match in seven - but they were still expected to overhaul Marseille's ramshackle outfit.

However, the 43,000 home fans were left with little to cheer as PSG struggled to create many clear cut chances - and the closest they came was a 40th minute effort from substitute Paulo Cesar, but his effort was cleared off the line from Alain Cantareil.

The point means Marseille remain in fifth and PSG stay seventh - still two points adrift of their arch-rivals.

Fourth placed Auxerre lost some ground on the top-three after being held to a 1-1 draw at Troyes.

Georges Ba gave lowly Troyes the lead after 39 minutes, but Thomas Kahlenberg secured a share of the spoils with his goal just after the hour.

A last minute strike from Sebastien Mazure was enough to give St Etienne a 1-0 win over Nantes at The Geoffrey Guichard.
