Gala demand Ribery probe

Galatasaray want compensation from Marseille over the transfer of Franck Ribery.

Galatasaray have demanded compensation from Marseille over the transfer of Franck Ribery.

The Turkish giants claim that Ribery's transfer to Marseille is illegitimate because they had taken up their first option on his signature.

Ribery enjoyed a loan spell at Galatasaray after arriving last January from Metz and the club have paid Metz ‚é¼2 million to take advantage of the option to make his move permanent.

However, Marseille have moved in and lured Ribery to the Stade Velodrome on a four-year deal.

The news has infuriated Galatasaray and they are ready to take their case to Fifa unless Marseille award some compensation.

"Our ultimate aim is to get Ribery back and for him to play again," said Galatasaray board member Mehmet Helvaci.

"If Ribery says he does not want to play for Galatasaray, Olympique Marseille, Ribery's lawyer and the person who calls himself his manager will pay the price for this.

"Fifa regulations state that unless there is a delay longer than three months, delays in payments do not constitute a breach of contract.

"As you can see the document signed by Ribery is dated March 30. Three months doesn't pass until the end of June, but we've made the payments to him anyway."
