Strasbourg have blasted Fabrice Fiorese for rejecting a move.
Strasbourg director Philippe Ginestet has explained why Fabrice Fiorese did not join the club on loan from Marseille.
With only 30 minutes remaining before the transfer window slammed shut, the forward refused the conditions with l'OM when everybody felt a deal had earlier been agreed.
Fiorese's image has been tarnished as a result.
"He would have earned more money at Strasbourg than at Marseille," explained Ginestet.
"At a certain time, everyone agreed.
"But, reading the contract again, Fiorese had a misunderstanding with the Marseille officials.
"Apparently, it became a matter of principle for him.
"He remained on that problem while a fifth year primary school pupil would have solved it without trouble.
"Anyway, it's a big disappointment.
"He was our priority at the club. Now we draw a blank and it is regrettable."
