The young France international has been desperate to earn a move to Marseille, but with a move not materialising, Sochaux will now keep their captain.
"After the last meeting with the chairman and my agents, the club left three or four days for L'OM to make a proposal," Pedretti told L'Equipe.
"Nothing came from that, so I decided to stay with Sochaux this season.
"I have informed the chairman and the coach, and I can't envision playing two games then deciding to leave.
"I was offered an extended deal here, but the proposition did not suit me.
"I will stay for the good of a club that has educated me and helped me grow.
"I have a true project with Sochaux."
The news has provided coach Guy Lacombe with a major boon.
"It is better than a new signing!" exclaimed Lacombe.
"Ben is the natural leader of the team - and its engine.
"To be able to keep such a wonderful player in your team is, of course, excellent news."
