Tony Mowbray has admitted he is hopeful rather than confident over his summer transfer targets.

Baggies boss not sure who will arrive before deadline

Tony Mowbray has admitted he is hopeful rather than confident over his summer transfer targets. The West Brom boss is trying to strengthen his squad before next Monday's midnight deadline but admits it has been frustrating at times. Mowbray is still pursuing a number of players but he is not sure how many will be arriving at The Hawthorns. Asked how he felt business would go over the next few days, Mowbray told Sky Sports News: "Hopeful. Confident I don't know. You go so far down the road with these things and then they curtail and die a death and you move somewhere else. "There are few enquiries and we will wait to see if any come to fruition."

Zheng and Trejo

Charlton's Zheng Zhi has been linked with a move to West Brom but Mowbray does not expect to bring in the Chinese midfielder. He said: "It is something we discussed a long time ago and then seemed to die a death. I don't think it is going to happen. Mowbray refused to comment on suggestions that Oscar Trejo of Real Mallorca could be set to join the club. "It is very hard to get deals done," he explained. "You mighty want certain players but it becomes unrealistic for a variety of reasons and they don't get done. "Until they get signed it is probably best we don't talk about them."
Robinson delight
Defender Paul Robinson has signed a new two-year deal with the club and Mowbray is happy to have secured his future. "We want as many good players as we can get and Paul fits into that category," he commented. "I am delighted he has put pen-to-paper."
