Raynald Denoueix is the latest name to be linked with taking over at Toulouse.
Toulouse are searching for a new manager with Erick Mombaerts set to step down at the end of the season.
Former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc was believed to be in the running for the job, but the World Cup winner insists he has had no contact with Toulouse officials.
Reports emanating from France now suggest Denoueix is leading the race to land the job.
The former Real Sociedad coach is thought to have met Toulouse chairman Olivier Sadran to discuss the possibility of becoming their new manager.
Denoueix is believed to be keen on the role at the Stadium Municipal and is hoping he has done enough to impress Sadran.
Meanwhile, Toulouse goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez has signed a new four-year deal at the club.
The 26-year-old's current deal was due to expire in the summer and he has set his sights on winning the number one jersey from Christophe Revault
"I am very satisfied," said Douchez. "As it is a long term contract, I hope to succeed Christophe Revault.
"I want to be part of the club's project."
