Bordeaux defender Marc Planus is facing another six weeks on the sidelines with a knee problem.
The 28-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season, restricting him to just 45 minutes of action.
Those woes are set to continue, as a scan on his troublesome knee has shown considerable damage.
Planus is now expected to be unavailable to Bordeaux boss Jean Tigana until January.
"It's serious," Tigana told
L'Equipe.
His absence is offset slightly by the return to fitness of Lamine Sane, who has announced himself ready for a first-team recall.
Recovered
He told the club's
official website: "I had a little sprain but I have now recovered.
"Everything is going well. I feel good and I think I will have recovered for Saturday (against Nancy). After that, it depends on the coach's choice."
Bordeaux have suffered numerous injuries to key defensive players this term, including Brazilian Carlos Henrqiue, and Sane admits the lack of continuity has been a hindrance.
"We have to make do with injuries and suspensions, we have been unable to have a settled defence," he said.
"It's true that we have often found ourselves in difficulties, but it happens. We must show the coach that he can have confidence in us by showing more defensive strength, individually and collectively."
