Bordeaux's Brazilian star Jussie is to follow compatriot and team-mate Wendel in taking up dual nationality.
Midfielder not interested in international call-up however
Bordeaux's Brazilian star Jussie is to follow compatriot and team-mate Wendel in taking up dual nationality.
The midfielder, who joined Ligue 1 side Lens in January 2005 before moving to Les Girondins two years later, will qualify for French nationality in January.
Some have suggested the 27-year-old schemer would follow Wendel and declare himself available to former Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc in the Les Bleus set-up.
But Jussie insists he is only concerned with turning out in front of the Stade Chaban Delmas faithful.
He said: "I will be naturalised in January, but I want to keep that (France ambitions) to myself.
"Not like Wendel, who showed his desire to be called up. I think that is great for him, but I am not thinking about it.
"When I am naturalised, it will be good for the club if they wish to sign a non-European player - and for me too, if I ever go somewhere. It will be easier."
